Mountain Jade proudly presents Ngā Tamariki o Tangaroa – “The Children of Tangaroa” – a special series of 21 pounamu artworks. The series celebrates the shared connection of Pacific peoples to the ocean. Tangaroa, guardian of the seas, is honoured through these pieces, which depict the spirits and creatures of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa (the Pacific Ocean) – the lifeblood of our islands and the stories that unite us. Together, seven of our Mountain Jade Rotorua artists have created these unique works, drawing on their personal style and inspiration from the ocean’s guardians. Together, the 21 taonga form a collective narrative of Pacific identity, connection, and respect for Tangaroa’s children. As proud sponsors of the Manu Samoa vs Fiji rugby game in Rotorua this September, we celebrate this momentous occasion through this collection.

We sell jade from all over the world and are very proud of our collection, but by far the most pieces we have listed online are from New Zealand. We call jade from New Zealand, "pounamu" or "greenstone" as it is here that these terms for jade originated.
