Conrad Henderson
The artist behind this creationFor his entire working career, Conrad has been drawn to natural New Zealand materials. Starting out as a native timber cabinet maker, he then progressed to teaching himself the processes of carving amber, wood, bone, and stone. From there, he formed his own carving studio - Lost Inspirations. Drawing inspiration from nature, it is evident that Conrad has a strong and respectful connection to the native materials that he works with.
Conrad has ties to Ngāti Raukawa.
The breastplate acts as a physical and symbolic shield and is thought to be a protective talisman. It represents strength, resilience, and the ability to shield oneself from negative energies or harm.
