Hand-carved NZ Pounamu
Hassle-free returnsThis Wearable Rei Puta Sculpture measures 127mm x 68mm and 193mm x 75mm including the base. Inspired by the traditional whale-tooth form, the Rei Puta holds associations with mana, guidance and deep knowledge. Tamaora Walker shapes this piece with a gentle strength, echoing the historic connection between Māori and Tohorā. The soft tones of flower jade highlight the stone’s natural character, suggesting balance and inner clarity. It’s a piece that sits comfortably with ideas of thoughtful leadership, purpose and respect.

The artist behind this creationPerhaps it’s a trick of the light that lends translucence to Tamaora’s work. Or maybe this glow is evidence of an ancient Māori belief that pounamu lives and breathes. Tamaora regards pounamu with reverence and respect born of his Māori heritage, with traditional forms and symbolism deeply influencing his designs. Tamaora is from Ngāti Rangiwewehi, Ngāti Whakaue and Ngāti Rangitihi.
He has also exhibited overseas and studied the work of international carvers.
