Waitī me Waitā by Daniel Malcolm
The twin stars, Waitī representing all fresh water food and Waitā representing food from the ocean. The Manaia design portraying Waitī which represents our spiritual connection to our fresh water kai (food), particularly here in Te Arawa where fresh water kai was one of our main food sources. The Hei Tiki design portraying Waitā which represents our ancestors and how they were profound voyagers, meaning kaimoana (seafood) was their main source of food.
