The artist behind this creationRic has worked as a jade carver for more than 17 years. He was initially attracted to jade as a medium because of its sense of permanency. Through his craft he has been able to discover and define himself as a person, a teacher, as kaitiaki of pounamu and as a New Zealander - Ngāti Pākehā - who identifies strongly with Māori culture.
