This large twist (Pikorua) has been carved from New Zealand Pounamu (greenstone) by New Zealand artist and Mountain Jade founder John Sheehan Senior. We don't often see twists of this size and at 62mm in height it's a piece that will appeal to someone looking to wear a statement design. The skill to craft the lines so gracefully is evident, and to have been able to have the flower jade reveal itself on the piece, in this way, gives this both a joyous and bold look.

The Twist represents friendship, love and loyalty
Resembling the intertwining fronds of New Zealand's pikopiko fern, the Twist connects the spirit of friendship, family and loved ones.A symbol of always being with one another regardless of where your journey takes you.
John Snr & Margaret
The artist behind this creationJohn Sheehan Snr is the founder of Mountain Jade, taking it from its humble roots in his single-man workshop to one of the leading establishments of handcrafted jade carvings in New Zealand. His vision is to support local artists, whilst also creating an interactive space to learn about the traditions and history of pounamu. John’s wife, Margaret, has the same shared passion and is a skilled hand in producing her own contemporary pieces.
Symbolising the bond between two people, connecting the lives of friends, family or loved ones.
The Twist
The Twist is thought to represent two people's life path. Like the continuous shape of the pikorua, life for both individuals will continue despite many unexpected twists and turns, inevitably bringing them together again one day.
