Ururangi and Tawhiri by Foua Aliki Tuielu
When Ranginui and Papatūānuku split, Tāwhirimātea couldn’t bear the sight, he tore out his eyes and threw them to be with his father Ranginui. Ngā mata o te ariki, Matariki. From those eyes sprang to life Ururangi, the whetū associated with the winds and climate.
