Maori flourished in early New Zealand with bounty from the sea. They used the fish hook to catch seafood, but over time it slowly became regarded as more than just a tool. The integral role it played in their survival was seen as a blessing, and it became a talisman worn around the neck on a cord symbolising their relationship with the sea god Tangaroa. Today, wearing a fish hook shows a deep respect for the ocean and is said to provide safe travel over Tangaroas domain, the sea.

However - as with any purchase - tax is still eligible to be paid on those products. If not in New Zealand, then in the country they are being shipping to.
